Bud started with Etobicoke Fire, August 16, 1965 and Retired 1995.
Obituary:
With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Bud Wice, devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Bud passed away peacefully, after a long fight with Kidney Cancer and was grateful for the dialysis that kept him alive and well for the past 6 years. Bud passed on April 29th at the age of 80 years old at Andy’s House/Hospice Muskoka. Beloved husband to Joan whom he shared his life with for the past 60 years, brother to Laura Fleming, brother in-law to Bill and Chantal Reid. His children, Kimberley (Jason) and Jeffery (Ellie), were the light of his life, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments. Grandfather to Lily Jane, Makenzie Ellen and Quinlyn Grace, extended family called him Uncle Bud, GG Bud touching the lives of Danielle, Andrew their kids along with all the nieces, nephews who filled his heart with love.
Bud was known for his love for building things and helping others and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones. Beyond his family, Bud’s kindness extended to all who knew him. He was the type of friend who would always be there to lend a helping hand or, more often than not, the perfect tool for any job. His garage was not just a workshop but a sanctuary where laughter and camaraderie flourished. Bud’s legacy of wanting to help others and provide for his family will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched. His dedication to the Fire Service for over 50 years is a testament to his community spirit. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will continue to inspire us to be better friends, family members, and neighbors.
A celebration of Bud’s life will be held on Saturday May 25th at the Mactier Legion from 1-4 p.m.
